When the video game Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator debuted last year, it was an immediate online phenomenon, launching memes and fan art seemingly without breaking a sweat. Now, the march of DDADDS continues, with Oni Press announcing the surprise release of the first of a series of comics based on the property.

As revealed by Paste, Oni will release five issues of the Dream Daddy comic book series, each by a different creative team and telling a stand-alone story as the various dating options of the game are explored in more detail. Creators on the series include Wendy Xu, C. Spike Trotman and Dream Daddy creators Leighton Gray and Vernon Shaw. Covers for each issue are by Marvel’s Runaways artist Kris Anka.

“There are so many more stories we wanted to explore in the DDADDS universe,” Shaw told Paste in a statement, “and Oni is giving us this amazing new outlet to tell them. Hope everyone likes Dad jokes!”

Dream Daddy No. 1 is available now digitally, with a print edition being released this weekend at the PAX West convention in Seattle and via Oni’s online store. Future issues will be released digitally with print versions available via conventions and Oni’s web store.
