Emma Thompson in Talks for Disney's 'Cruella'
Oscar winner Emma Thompson is heading back to the world of Disney.
Thompson is in talks to star in Cruella, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. She will join Emma Stone, who is starring as Cruella De Vil, the villain of the 1961 animated classic 101 Dalmatians.

This live-action take on the villain will be helmed by I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie. It is described as an origin story set in the early 1980s with a punk vibe. The most recent script comes from Tony McNamara. Andrew Gunn is producing Cruella with Marc Platt. Kristin Burr is also producing.
Thompson next stars in Amazon's Late Night, and reprises her role as Agent O in Sony's Men In Black International, both of which will be released in June. She previously starred in Disney's Saving Mr. Banks as Marry Poppins author P.L. Travers, and she played Mrs. Potts in the live-action Beauty and the Beast.
Thompson won a best actress Oscar in in 1993 for Howards End and an adapted screenplay Oscar in 1995 for Sense and Sensibility. Her casting news comes days after she hosted Saturday Night Live.
Cruella opens Dec. 23, 2020.
