'Ant-Man,' 'Miss Hokusai' to Open Fantasia Festival
The Fantasia International Film Festival, considered North America’s largest genre film festival, on Wednesday released the first wave of titles for this year’s run.
The festival will be held for its 19th year in Montreal from July 14-August 4 and will include the co-production market Frontieres. Jury and special event information haven’t yet been announced.

The festival will open with the North American premiere of Miss Hokusai, the animated biopic of the daughter of renowned Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, directed by Keiichi Hara. The opening night will also feature Marvel’s Ant-Man several days before the Paul Rudd superhero film’s theatrical release.
The other titles include four world premieres: Tales of Halloween, the horror anthology with segments by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II), Neil Marshall (The Descent) and nine other directors; Jeruzalem, the found-footage horror release set in Jerusalem directed by Yoav and Doron Paz; the vigilante drama The Demolisher and the psychological thriller Observance.
The rest of the titles are: Assassination Classroom (Japan; international premiere), Turbo Kid (Canada and New Zealand), Big Match (South Korea), Crumbs (Ethiopia, Spain and Finland), Deathgasm (New Zealand), Experimenter (United States), Fatal Frame (Japan; North American premiere), Full Strike (Hong Kong), The Golden Cane Warrior (Indonesia), La La La at Rock Bottom (Japan), Possessed (Spain), They Look Like People (United States, international premiere) and The Visit (Denmark).
The second set of titles will be released in June before the release of the full lineup on July 7.
