First 'Deadpool' Trailer Introduces the Real Merc With the Mouth

Ryan Reynolds plays the unstoppable, un-shut-up-able mutant, finally let loose on the big screen.

Meet the Merc with the Mouth, as fans love him: un-stitched, and unable to stop cracking wise.

The first trailer for Fox's Deadpool has been unleashed on the world, showing Ryan Reynolds go from being a handsome leading man to being a psychopathic unstoppable killing machine who just loves to joke. The trailer, which was previewed at San Diego Comic-Con last month, made its official debut during TNT's Conan Tuesday evening.

In addition to offering an origin sequence that makes light of Reynolds' 2011 Green Lantern role, the trailer also introduces Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead — who, as Deadpool notes, has a great name — as well as T.J. Miller's Weasel, Morena Baccarin's Vanessa and Leslie Uggams' Blind Al, Deadpool's defacto confidant, housekeeper, voice of reason and all-round grouchy sounding board.

The movie is the second time Reynolds has played the popular Marvel character, although his debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine came under fire from the actor as well as fans in the way in which the traditionally verbose anti-hero was transformed into a dark assassin with his mouth literally stitched shut (Something that the teaser for the trailer commented on).

Directed by Tim Miller from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the X-Men spin-off is scheduled for release Feb. 12, 2016. Because, after watching this trailer, what else can you think but, "Now, that looks like the ideal date movie for Valentine's Day?"
