Plot details are under wraps, but the book is described as set in an unique world with a story revolving around two sisters.
Fox’s acquisition follows a heated auction for the two-book publishing rights, which Flatiron won Friday morning. The studio followed with a preemptive attack on the movie rights, closing Friday night.
The book is generating quite a bit of interest and rights have already been preempted in the UK by Hodder in a six-figure deal.
Kira Goldberg will shepherd the project for the studio. Drew Reed and Zander Bauman of Fox's New York scouting office flagged the book.
Garber teaches creative writing at William Jessup University in California and just started as a blogger on Pub(lishing) Crawl. She is repped by Shahbazian of New Leaf Literary & Media, attorney Karl Austen of Jackoway Tyerman and Jenny Bent of The Bent Agency.
