Peter Chelsom is directing the feature.

Gary Oldman, Carla Gugino and Britt Robertson have joined Asa Butterfield in STX’s untitled intergalactic love story.

The project was previously set up at Relativity under the title Out of This World.

Peter Chelsom is directing the feature that is being produced by Richard Lewis.

The story is set in motion when, during a mission to colonize Mars led by a billionaire entrepreneur, a female astronaut is found to be pregnant. After she dies during childbirth, her son is raised in secrecy on Mars. Sixteen years later, the teen (Butterfield) begins an online romance with a Colorado girl (Robertson).

He hatches a plan to meet the girl, win her heart and then find the enigmatic billionaire in hopes of uncovering information about his mother and the mysterious circumstances surrounding how he came into existence.

Said STX’s Adam Fogelson: “The film has a completely authentic voice and the kinds of nuanced characters who are distinctive and truly memorable. We were drawn in by this story and its universal themes of longing for community and love.”

Robertston is coming off of Tomorrowland, the Disney movie in which she starred opposite George Clooney.

Gugino is coming off of San Andreas and also appeared in Wayward Pines.

Oldman next appears in Criminal, the thriller that also stars Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot.
