'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' Trailer Unleashes the Monsters

The MonsterVerse comes into focus May 31.

The latest trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters makes a point of including the humans appearing in the follow-up to Gareth Edwards’ reboot of the cult kaiju franchise — amongst them Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown — but it knows exactly what fans want to see: Lots of monsters fighting each other.

Action is at the heart of the second trailer for Michael Dougherty’s entry into the expanding MonsterVerse, following not only the 2014 Godzilla, but also last year’s Kong: Skull Island, with scenes of urban destruction accompanying fights between the various monsters (and, occasionally, humanity) far outweighing the amount of dialogue to be found.

Alongside Chandler, Brown and Farmiga, the movie features Ken Watanabe, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch and Sally Hawkins. The movie is scheduled for release May 31. It will be followed up by Godzilla vs. Kong, from Death Note filmmaker Adam Wingard.
