Ironically, the Ego actor auditioned for Han Solo decades ago.

Kurt Russell gave a great performance as Ego the Living Planet in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but he did struggle with one little piece of dialogue in the script: his son's name.

On a few occasions, Russell referred to Star-Lord, the nickname for Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), as "Star Wars."

"Well, even where I reside out past the edge of what's known, we've heard tales about the man they call Star Wars," Russell says during one take featured on the film's Blu-ray. "We could be in trouble," he jokingly adds.

Trying the take again, Russell makes the error, cracking everyone on set up.

"We've heard tell of the man they call Star Wars. Ugh. Yes, Star Wars. He's all of Star Wars," Russell said, frustrated with himself. "We've heard of the movie Star Wars."

Director James Gunn also said on Twitter it was an enjoyable mistake.

The mix-up is funny on its own, but even more so because Russell actually auditioned to play Han Solo back in 1976 for A New Hope. The actor was among a slew of leading men in Hollywood who wanted the now-iconic role.

Tape of Russell auditioning for Han has been floating around the Internet for years.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is due out on Blu-ray Aug. 22. Digital HD copies are available now.
