'Guardians of the Galaxy' Writer Nicole Perlman Tackling 'True Skin' for Amazon Studios
Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman has come on board to pen the Amazon Studios-based sci-fi television drama True Skin.
The hiring is a big get for the project, which began life as a short film that went viral. The project was previously set up at Warner Bros. as a feature, but the rights lapsed and Amazon swooped in.
Stephan Zlotescu created the short and is on board to direct. Scott Glassgold and his newly minted production company, Ground Control, are attached to exec produce what is envisioned as a one-hour series.
Perlman will also exec produce True Skin, which she won’t tackle until 2017. Since Guardians, Perlman has become very much in demand and is working on high-profile projects such as Captain Marvel for Marvel and a Pokemon movie for Universal and Legendary.
The short, written and directed by Zlotescu and his partner H1, is set in the not-too-distant future where everyone is augmenting their bodies. The story’s hero can't afford to augment in the U.S., so he heads to the black market of Bangkok, where he gets hold of a mysterious chip that he discovers is slowly turning him robotic — and is a hot commodity wanted by shadowy forces.
Perlman is repped by CAA, Management 360, and Frankfurt Kurnit.
