The biggest crossover event of all is about to get even bigger, with Lego Dimensions adding a number of new characters and concepts this fall, including The A-Team, Adventure Time and Harry Potter.

Fans of 1980s pop culture will also have a lot to look forward to with the additions. Knight Rider, Gremlins, The Goonies, Beetlejuice and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial are among the 16 properties announced. (More up-to-date additions include The LEGO Batman Movie, Mission: Impossible and the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.)

New characters aren't the only change to the game. The expansion packs will also introduce Battle Arenas, allowing for four-player gaming.

"We've built upon the existing Lego Starter Pack to expand the gameplay possibilities with entirely new Lego experiences that can't be found anywhere else," Tom Stone, managing director of developer TT Games, said in a statement. "We can now provide players with even more customization and mash-up opportunities, and all are compatible with the existing game and packs."

The expansion packs — which will also include story packs offering franchise-specific play for properties such as the new Ghostbusters movie and Warners' Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts — will launch Sept. 27 and continue to run through summer 2017.
