Lionsgate’s feature adaptation of The Hunger Games novel has cast another character in the upcoming film.

Unknown Amber Chaney has landed the role of the Avox girl, Lionsgate revealed on Thursday.

In the Suzanne Collins book, an Avox is someone who has been punished for rebelling against the Capitol. Their tongues are cut out, which forces them to be unable to speak. In Hunger Games, Katniss recognizes an Avox from when she was hunting with best friend Gale in the woods outside of District 12.

Chaney, who has appeared in Meet the Browns and Somebodies, joins the recently cast Toby Jones, who will play the arena announcer Claudius Templesmith. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Stanley Tucci, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Wes Bentley and Lenny Kravitz lead the ensemble.

Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, is set for a March 23, 2012 release.
