Will Spider-Man Be in 'Thor: Ragnarok'? Directors' Twitter Exchange Takes Unexpected Turn

This may be the greatest exchange Marvel directors have ever had in public.

Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has already established himself as the undisputed king of Twitter when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — serving up joke after joke on a daily basis. Now he's teamed with Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts to up the game even further.

First, Watts tweeted at Waititi, asking if Spider-Man (Tom Holland) will be in the next Thor film (Spider-Man is currently shooting in Atlanta, while Thor is filming in New Zealand).

Next, Waititi replied, "I just need his head. Send immediately."

Watts does not see that as a good sign, sharing a photo of Brad Pitt from 1995's Se7en

(Is it necessary to insert a spoiler warning for a 21-year-old movie? Just in case: Warning, spoilers ahead for Se7en.)

The picture, of course, is a reference to the climax of Se7en, which sees Detective David Mills (Pitt) plead with Detective Lieutenant William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) to know "what's in the box?" In a disturbing twist, it's revealed the killer (Kevin Spacey) murdered Mills' wife, Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow), and placed her head in a box as part of his master plot to get Mills to kill him — completing the seven deadly sins.

The lesson from all this? Peter Parker shouldn't take any trips to New Zealand.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is slated for July 7, 2017. Thor: Ragnarok is set for Nov. 3, 2017.
