Jon Turteltaub of 'National Treasure' fame is directing.

It’s Jason Statham vs a dinosaur.

The actor has signed on to star in Meg, the creature feature being made by Warner Bros. and Chinese company Gravity.

Jon Turteltaub, best known as helmer of the National Treasure movies, is directing the project, which centers on a Carcharodon Megalodon, the 70-foot, 40-ton prehistoric kin to the great white shark.

The project has been in the works for about 20 years and began life as a book by Steve Allten. Eli Roth was most recently attached to direct it, but Meg got overhauled earlier this year with the coming of Turteltaub and Jamie Vanderbilt, who wrote the latest script.

Plot details were not revealed, nor were character details.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Colin Wilson are among the producers on Meg.

The project could be the largest one yet that Statham toplines. The action star has headlined his own bullet-riddled and bone-busting pics and been part of large ensembles such as the Expendables franchise. More recently, he was starring as the villain in the Fast & Furious movies alongside Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson and is due to return for Fast 8.

Statham is repped by CAA, Current Entertainment and Bloom Hergott.
