Jeff Smith -- creator of all-ages fantasy best-seller Bone, as well as reality-jumping science fiction series Rasl -- is turning to new venues for his latest creation, Tuki Save the Humans. Not only will the strip debut online as a webcomic, but Smith will officially unveil the comic at a live performance taking place next month to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

The performance will be part of a benefit brunch supporting the CBLDF's "Kids' Right to Read" program at the Society of Illustrators in New York City. Described as a "lively afternoon event," Smith's performance will be followed by a Q&A session and an art auction with proceeds going to the Kids' Right to Read program.

The details about both the performance and Tuki in general are being kept under wraps for now, but Smith -- who was named a member of the CBLDF's board of directors earlier this month -- has previously said that his new series is the story of the first human to leave Africa, and the various forces trying to stop him from being able to do so -- including animals, gods and other potential threats.

More information about the event, including how to purchase tickets or support the CBLDF, can be found here.
