Paramount Pictures U.K. said the release gives British cinemagoers a first look at the finished film.
The movie brings in Benedict Cumberbatch alongside 2009's Star Trek cast of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg.
Cumberbatch plays the villain.
Pegg, who plays starship crew member Scotty in the film, tweeted: “Looks like Star Trek Into Darkness will land in the UK first. Release date May 9th. That’s about 8 weeks away. Not long considering.”
