There's been a change of ranks at Valiant Entertainment.

Joe Illidge has left the company, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Illidge, a former Batman editor for DC Entertainment as well as senior editor for Lion Forge Comics’ Catalyst Prime imprint, joined Valiant in April as the publisher’s executive editor alongside then-editor-in-chief Warren Simons, who said in a statement that he had “personally hand-picked Joe … not only because of his great skills and experience as a comics editor, but because I know how passionate he is for these character and how well he’ll treat them.”

The editor was Valiant’s first high-profile hire after being acquired by DMG Entertainment in January and, upon Simons’ departure from Valiant less than two weeks of Illidge’s hiring, he became the lead editorial voice for the company as it announced a relaunch of core properties titled Valiant Beyond. Of the four titles bearing that branding, two — Livewire and Incursion — have yet to debut as Illidge departs.

Valiant confirmed Illidge had parted ways with the company, but declined to offer any further information about potential replacements. At the same time, Illidge’s Twitter profile was updated to include Valiant under “past clients.”
