The pact will see the 'Halloween' filmmaker tackle audio and podcast projects with producing partner Sandy King Carpenter.

Horror legend John Carpenter is taking his talents to the audio world. Carpenter and producing partner Sandy King Carpenter, the president Storm King Productions, have signed an exclusive pact with Serial Box that will see them co-produce horror audio stories and podcasts for the audio service. The married couple's work will live under the banner John Carpenter Presents, and will mark Carpenter's first foray into the audio space.

“Horror is a universal language that works across so many mediums. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Serial Box — their rich sound design has advanced audio storytelling, offering us a new way to strike fear into the hearts of our audience. Harkening back to spooky tales told around the fire, we can’t wait to get these stories out into the world,” said John and Sandy King Carpenter in a statement.

Carpenter is a horror icon thanks to films such as Halloween (1978), The Thing (1982) and Christine (1983). His work remains in the public consciousness, with Blumhouse and Universal preparing for the October release of Halloween Kills, followed a year later by Halloween Ends. Both are sequels to Halloween (2019), a legacy sequel to Carpenter's original film.

The Carpenters are expected to develop five series a year over the next two years. Hayley Wagreich, head of content at Serial Box, will team with the Carpenters on the projects.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have a legendary filmmaker help us elevate audio storytelling as an art form,” said Molly Barton, co-founder and CEO Serial Box. “John Carpenter invented the genre of smart, action-packed horror/suspense and through Serial Box’s immersive audio storytelling, he and Sandy can create new classics and connect with a new generation of fans."
