John Oliver Mocks 'Deadpool' and 'Suicide Squad' While Pitching His Own Superhero Movie

'Sad Man vs. Super Sad Man?'

Last Week Tonight host John Oliver has superhero fatigue.

Though his HBO show is on hiatus, he shared a web exclusive in which he complains about seeing the same old superheroes every year — going on to lampoon the names of three major comic book movies released this year: Mean Spider-Man (Deaddpool), Sad Man vs. Super Sad Man (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Insane Clown Posse Takes Manhattan (Suicide Squad).

His solution? Hollywood picking up an original hero — a fifth grade creation of his called Johnny Strong.

"Johnny Strong is a kickass hero with a bad attitude. He's seen a boob, and he knows what the f-word is. He intrepidly battles villains such as Doc Bedtime," he says. "And of course there's the dreaded Mrs. Thomas, the clarinet teacher."

Oliver has enough material for a whole movie — and hopes someone in Hollywood is taking note.

Last Week Tonight returns Sept. 25 on HBO.
