The studio is expected to open its doors in September.

While The Lego Movie was produced in Australia, the sequel will be made closer to Los Angeles.

Animal Logic, the Australian visual effects and animation studio behind the movies, is opening up Animal Logic Vancouver, entering in a partnership with Warner Bros. to produce three animated features. The first movie in the deal will be The Lego Movie Sequel.

The facility is expected to open its doors in September, create 300 jobs in the animation and VFX hotbed and begin production on the movie in January.

The expansion does not mean Animal Logic is leaving its home country, where it's currently in production on the Lego Batman movie and Ninjago. It is also working on a third unrevealed project.

Animal Logic also continues to work on Hollywood’s effects-intensive productions, and recently completed work on Insurgent, Avengers: Age of Ultron and the indie Monk Comes Down the Mountain.
