Producers Roy Lee (Lego Movie) and Steven Schneider (Insidious) have inked a three-year production pact with Image Nation Abu Dhabi, with plans to produce one film per year.

Lee and Schneider are behind franchise hits including The Ring, Paranormal Activity and The Grudge. The Image Nation features will be high-concept, English-language dark genre films with modest budgets and franchise potential.

Schneider recently worked with Image Nation on dystopian thriller The Worthy for Netflix and is set to release the fourth installment in the Insidious franchise.
Lee has multiple projects in various stages of development, including the Lego Movie sequel and the film remake of Stephen King's It.

“I am impressed with the way Image Nation has approached the genre space,” Lee said Tuesday in a statement. “Steven and I are excited to work with them in creating globally appealing movies and franchises and pushing the bounds of the genre.”

Added Schneider: “They are incredibly supportive of the filmmaker’s vision and a great producing partner."

Image Nation is currently working with genre production company Blumhouse on a Benji reboot and horror-thriller Prey.
