The new videogame will feature "new story content exploring the time between 'Return of the Jedi' and 'The Force Awakens,' " according to Warner Bros. Interactive.

Less than two months after the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there has been another awakening — and this time, it's far sillier. The first trailer for the newly announced Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens recreates the original trailer for the J.J. Abrams movie, but this time with added obstacles.

The game, developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in partnership with the Lego Group and Lucasfilm, doesn't just feature gameplay based on the massively successful revival of the space opera franchise; it'll also include what the official announcement describes as "new story content exploring the time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens," offering new insight into the backstory of characters such as Kylo Ren, Rey and Poe Dameron.

In a statement, TT Games Managing Director Tom Stone said that the company is "extremely proud of the Lego Star Wars videogames, truly an incredible franchise that has sold more than 33 million copies and helped ignite a passion for numerous fun-filled Lego games enjoyed by countless gamers around the world."

The new game, he continued, "will be pushing the series forward with innovative new gameplay mechanics, while also exploring new parts of the universe that are sure to excite and delight both Lego and Star Wars fans, as well as newcomers to our games."

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released June 28 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS. A deluxe edition will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with access to the game's season pass and a free Finn mini-figure.
