Something wicked this way comes.

Double, double, toil and trouble is on show in a pair of new posters for Justin Kurzel's new adaptation of Macbeth, showcasing a grim Michael Fassbender and steely Marion Cotillard as the murderous couple who'll stop at nothing to gain power in medieval Scotland.

The movie, which also stars Paddy Considine as the ill-fated Banquo and David Thewlis as King Duncan, has been likened to Apocalypse Now in terms of tone. Director Kurzel told Empire magazine, which debuted the new images, that his take on the classic offers "a landscape and atmosphere that felt much more dangerous than I'd ever seen before from adaptations of Macbeth."

Macbeth will be released in December. Until then, brush up on your Shakespeare, and gaze upon the new posters below.
