The actor is developing a film that's "totally separate" from projects such as 'Gotham City Sirens,' the rumored Joker/Harley team-up movie or 'Suicide Squad 2.'

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn was undoubtedly the breakout character of last year’s Suicide Squad, so it’s unsurprising that the actor and Warner Bros. are developing a spinoff project for the character. Perhaps more surprising is the fact that it’s just one of a number of Harley-centric movies in development, and this latest one she's speaking of doesn't seem to have been reported on before.

This movie, she told MTV's Josh Horowitz, was “totally separate” from projects like Gotham City Sirens, the Joker/Harley team-up movie or Suicide Squad 2. “There’s a lot going on right now,” Robbie continued. “Honestly, I don’t think anyone knows what’s going to be the next thing to happen, but I think everyone is keen to get Harley back onscreen so everyone is working on lots of different versions of what that could be.”

Robbie’s personal vision for Harley’s next step is one that could fit either a solo movie or Gotham City Sirens, as it turns out. “I want to see her with other women. I kept saying when we were shooting Suicide Squad, ‘She needs her girlfriends,’ she needs other girls around her because she loves that. You see it in the comics. She loves meeting people, any people, but she needs her girl gang.”

Robbie is big on remaining faithful to the spirit of the character, it turns out, because she wants to keep the fans happy — to an extent. “I think when it comes to something that has such a huge fan base already, you obviously want to do the fans justice,” she explained. “You want to show them the characters they fell in love with, but you also can’t be paralyzed by the idea of, ‘How do we please everyone?’ because it’s just not going to happen with any film.”
