The meme, which features an image from the set of 'A New Hope,' reads: "Handed the most dangerous weapon in the galaxy — Immediately points at face."

Mark Hamill on Monday addressed a popular Luke Skywalker meme that has been floating around social media since long ago in a galaxy far, far away.

The meme in question depicts Luke pointing his lightsaber directly at his face while examining it on the set of 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope. The text reads: "Handed the most dangerous weapon in the galaxy —  Immediately points at face."

"This makes me cringe every time I see it," said Hamill of the meme, adding, "I don't remember doing this in the movie. I think it's just an on-set production still, otherwise Obi-Wan wouldn't look so remarkably unconcerned." And he is correct. In the film, Luke does not look at the lightsaber as he does in the meme.

This is far from the first time Hamill has delighted fans by sharing anecdotes with his massive social media audience.

Just last week, Hamill explained another set photo from A New Hope that features a birthday cake.

"While shooting on location for the original #StarWars in Tunisia-North Africa, Gary Kurtz, George Lucas [and] I raised a styrofoam cup half-filled with warm champagne to toast Alec Guinness on his 62nd birthday. That was on Friday, April 2nd 1976. (I Googled it)," Hamill said via Twitter.

The late, beloved Guinness noted in several interviews that he did not really understand the film when it was in production, but was greatly pleased with the end result.
