Mark Ruffalo Teases Evolved Hulk in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'

"He's really trying to be part of something"

Just because there are a handful of new characters introduced in next summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, it doesn’t mean that the movie won’t have time to develop its existing cast. In fact, one of the newcomers might have a hand in that development, according to Mark Ruffalo.

“I love the new kids on the block,” Ruffalo told Collider. “I love Wanda [the Scarlet Witch] and Pietro, Quicksilver, they’re cool. They’re really cool and good characters.” (He also added that Paul Bettany’s Vision is “so dope.”)

The feeling of affection toward Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch might not extend to his character, however. The Witch is “able to bring out … the worst in us,” Ruffalo said. “There are people in our lives who can do that, and somehow when you’re an actor you tend to gravitate toward those people, but she’s that bad — it’s like Sid and Nancy. She’s everyone’s Nancy.”

The actor said that Bruce Banner is “trying to become more part of a group” in the new movie, following the events of the first Avengers. “I feel like he has the idea that maybe he is a part of something,” Ruffalo explained. “He’s trying to really be part of something and feels more comfortable I think with the fantasy that he can actually be part of something. But I still think it’s a struggle for him and I never think that he quite has it under control. I think in this version he’s sort of as close to having a normal life as he possibly could, which might include some romance, but is that ever possible for Banner? That’s really the question.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May1,  2015.
