Marvel Teases a Mystery Free Comic Book Day title.

Following the news that three of Marvel Entertainment's Avengers comic book series will be coming to an end in April — Avengers, New Avengers and Secret Avengers — the company has teased a new beginning for its biggest franchise with the announcement of All-New, All-Different Avengers as one of its two Free Comic Book Day offerings for the year.

Quite what All-New, All-Different Avengers will be remains a mystery. Marvel's announcement describes the FCBD release as the "first taste of the all-new Marvel Universe as a blockbuster top-secret Avengers creative team sets out on a new adventure that will have fans begging for more," adding, "Who will be Earth's Mightiest Heroes when the dust settles from Secret Wars? Find out here!" Both the writer and artist for the issue are described as "TOP SECRET" in the official solicitation for the issue.

The title of the release is a nostalgic one; the first issues of Chris Claremont's fan-favorite X-Men run that introduced characters such as Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus temporarily retitled the series The All-New, All-Different X-Men. The description has been reused on a number of different Marvel titles since then, including All-New, All-Different X-Factor and All-New, All-Different Alpha Flight.

The mystery Avengers story won't be the only one appearing in the issue. A second strip, tying into the April Uncanny Inhumans rollout also will appear, written by that series' regular writer Charles Soule. Marvel will be releasing Secret Wars No. 0 for Free Comic Book Day as well — a special preview issue of the company's massive summer event that's set to relaunch its comic book universe.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Marvel senior vp sales David Gabriel called this year's freebies "a spectacular opportunity to reach new fans, as FCBD coincides with the release of Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron. There's no better time for fans to jump into the Marvel comics universe with new titles featuring the Avengers, the Inhumans and Secret Wars."

Free Comic Book Day is May 2 this year. More details about the day, including locations where the free releases will be available, can be found here.
