The five-issue 'Deadpool and the Mercs for Money' will see Deadpool hire his own mercenaries to find the most valuable object in existence.

When Deadpool arrives in movie theaters next year, Marvel Entertainment plans to use the character's newfound success to introduce audiences to some of its other mercenary characters via the newly announced Deadpool and the Mercs for Money comic book series.

Written by Uncanny X-Men writer Cullen Bunn, with art by Salva Espin, the five-issue series will pit a team of mercenaries hired by Deadpool — who, as part of Marvel's All-New, All-Different comic book relaunch, is now rich, famous and a member of the Avengers — against what Bunn calls "dozens of the Marvel Universe's deadliest assassins, cutthroats, and murderers" in a hunt for "the most valuable artifact in the universe."

If this sounds like a romp, it's meant to; Bunn told IGN that the series is "The Dirty Dozen and The Expendables if Deadpool was in charge instead of Lee Marvin or Sylvester Stallone…. It's Saving Private Ryan if, instead of rescuing a soldier, they were trying to make a metric ton of cash."

The series will run alongside the regular Deadpool series staring in February, with the character also appearing in Uncanny Avengers, Spider-Man/Deadpool and Deadpool & Cable that month.

Deadpool will hit theaters Feb. 12.
