Bates Motel actor Michael Eklund will star opposite Rose McGowan and Christopher Lloyd in Lower Bay, an indie psychological thriller from director Nina Ljeti now shooting in Toronto.

Eklund will play a detective who helps a best-selling author (McGowan) investigate a mysterious man (Lloyd) she encounters in an abandoned subway station while studying sound that is felt, rather than heard. Hemlock Grove star Richard Gunn will play McGowan's fiancé.

Lower Bay is based on a script by Jenna Mattison, with Hackybox Pictures and WeatherVane Productions financing and producing the feature. Lower Bay is also the real name of a little-used downtown Toronto subway station that doubles as a location for movie shoots, including the Michael Douglas-starrer Don't Say A Word and the 1998 remake of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three.

Mattison and Michele Weisler will share producer credits with Geoff Hart and Allan Ungar on Lower Bay. Jason Van Eman, Cody Hackman and Harvey Lowry will executive produce.

Eklund is repped by Red Management and Greene & Associates Talent Agency, and McGowan by Innovative Artists. Weisler and Lloyd are both repped by Gersh.
