The streaming giant has acquired the film in a multi-territory deal.

Close, the Noomi Rapace action-thriller that was first announced in Cannes last year by The Hollywood Reporter, has been picked up by Netflix in a multi-territory deal that includes the U.S., U.K. and Australia.

The film is inspired by the life of bodyguard Jacquie Davis and sees the Prometheus star play a counterterrorism expert who takes on what should be a babysitting job protecting a rich teenage heiress. But a violent attempted kidnapping forces the two to go on the run, and then they've got to take some lives — or lose theirs. Sophie Nelisse (The Book Thief), Eoin Macken (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter) and Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) also appear.

U.K.-based WestEnd Films has been looking after worldwide sales on Close via its female-led WeLove brand.
