New 'Batman: Arkham Knight' Trailer Proves the Dark Knight Isn't Alone (Video)

The game's newly announced "dual play" feature lets players swap characters during fights.

The latest trailer for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight video game shows that the Dark Knight isn't fighting alone to keep Gotham safe — and that means that gamers will have the chance to play as more than just Batman when the game is released this summer.

"All Who Follow You," the new teaser for the game, which closes out a series launched with 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum, might feature a villain who threatens that Bruce Wayne's alter ego will "bring death to all who follow you," but that's just a prelude to showcasing those who are assisting Batman in his crusade against the Arkham Knight of the game's title: Commissioner Gordon and his daughter (the latter in her "Oracle" guise), faithful butler Alfred, Lucius Fox, Robin, Catwoman and Nightwing.

And we mean "assisting Batman" literally; in game footage, the game's "Dual Play" feature is shown, which allows players to switch between two different characters during fights. You can be both Nightwing and Batman while taking down the bad guys, or you can play both members of the dynamic duo when the situation demands it. Although, as the trailer puts it, dark days are coming to Gotham, it's good to know that Batman won't be alone in dealing with them.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be available June 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Watch the new trailer below.
