The relationship between newlyweds and new family can be tricky to negotiate for some — and never more so than in this clip from Guillermo del Toro's upcoming gothic horror Crimson Peak, in which Mia Wasikowska should really pick up on the scary vibes her new sister-in-law is throwing her way.

Wasikowska plays Edith Cushing, the new bride of Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston), a seemingly charming gentleman in 19th century England. Unfortunately, marrying Thomas means that Edith has to deal with Lady Lucille Sharpe (Jessica Chastain), who — as you can see below — seems far less eager to make Edith feel at home.

Crimson Peak, which del Toro co-wrote with Matthew Robbins in addition to directing, also features Charlie Hunnam as the quiet hero of the piece, Jim Beaver as Edith's father, and Pacific Rim veteran Burn Gorman.

The movie is scheduled for Oct. 16 release. Watch the new clip, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, below.
