New 'Pacific Rim' Comic Book 'Tales From The Drift' Announced
The sequel to Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim won't be released until 2017, but that doesn't mean that the Jaegers get to relax for a couple of years. Legendary Pictures has announced Pacific Rim: Tales From the Drift, a comic book series created with input from del Toro and Pacific Rim screenwriter Travis Beacham.
Beacham provided the basic story for the four-part series, with The Life After's Joshua Hale Fialkov writing the finished script. The series, which has art from Marcos Marz, follows the 2013 graphic novel Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero, and promises what Legendary calls "Jaegers never before seen in combat, squaring off against all-new Kaiju creatures."
The series is just one of a number of new comic book projects announced by Legendary ahead of this weekend's Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle. Also unveiled were five-issue thriller Cops for Criminals by Steven Grant and artist Pete Woods, and Black Bag, a six-issue series about a housewife who moonlights as a government assassin by artist JB Bastos, with iZombie co-creator Chris Roberson writing.
Pacific Rim: Tales From the Drift will launch in November, with Cops for Criminals and Black Bag beginning at some point this fall.
