The latest international clip shows the sci-fi sequel's darker side.

The tone gets back to brooding in the latest Star Trek teaser.

In contrast to the lighthearted, one-liner-filled recent U.S. trailer featuring Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and crew, the latest international clip shows off more of Benedict Cumberbatch's villainous side. "You think your world is safe," he says. "It is an illusion. Enjoy these final moments of peace."

Cue explosions, an Enterprise crew on their heels in the face of an assault and a very worried-looking Kirk. "You have no idea what you have done -- I will walk over your cold corpses," Cumberbatch's villain says in a monotone voice. Fun!

J.J Abram's sci-fi sequel hits U.S. theaters May 17.
