Oscar Isaac is enlisting for duty as Solid Snake. The actor will star in the Sony video game adaptation Metal Gear Solid, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The film has Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts attached to helm. Derek Connolly, known for Jurassic World and Kong: Skull Island, penned the script, with Avi Arad producing. Peter Kang is overseeing for the studio.

The video game series dates back to 1987 when Konami unveiled Metal Gear, created by Hideo Kojima. In the games, Solid Snake is a Special Forces operative who goes on missions no one else can handle. David Hayter, the actor and screenwriter also known for penning 20o0's X-Men, voiced the character starting with the third game in the series, 1998's Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation.

Isaac has been open about his affinity for Solid Snake, telling IGN in 2019 that it was the video game character he'd most like to play. After the interview, Vogt-Roberts tweeted, "The ball’s in Oscar’s court."

Isaac has a full schedule and is attached to star in the Marvel Studios series Moon Knight on Disney+ as well as in the comic book adaptation The Great Machine, a take on the popular Brian K. Vaughan series Ex Machina. He will also play Francis Ford Coppola in Francis and the Godfather, about the making of The Godfather. He has already wrapped Dune, which is set for December 2021.

Isaac is repped by WME, Inspire Entertainment and Mitch Smelkinson at Goodman Genow.
