'In the Heart of the Sea': First Look at Chris Hemsworth in 'Moby Dick' Origin Story

The director of the at-sea epic, based on the true story that inspired Herman Melville to pen Moby Dick, shared a photo via Twitter of his postproduction progress — specifically, on a scene with Chris Hemsworth, whom he also directed in Rush.

In the Heart of the Sea, written by Charles Leavitt and adapted from Nathaniel Philbrick's Sea, follows the 90-day isolation of a whaling ship at sea in 1820 after an encounter with a sperm whale.

Ben Whishaw plays author Melville, and Hemsworth stars as Essex first mate Owen Chase, on board with Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy and Brendan Gleeson. The film also features Tom Holland, Frank Dillane and Sam Keeley.

While at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, the director shared the update that he was in the editing stage of the project. "So it's still unformed, unfinished, but it's showing a lot of promise, I think," he told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

In the Heart of the Sea hits theaters March 13, 2015.
