Rampage director Brad Peyton is ready to unravel an intriguing mystery.

Peyton is attached to helm an adaptation of the 2010 novella The Epoch Index for Fox, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Justin Rhodes, one of the writers behind Tim Miller and James Cameron's upcoming Terminator reboot, will pen the script, with Planet of the Apes filmmaker Matt Reeves producing through his 6th & Idaho production company.

The novella, written by Christian Cantrell, centers on CIA analyst Quinn Mitchell as she aims to redeem herself after personal and professional setbacks. Her ticket to redemption may be solving a strange string of assassinations in which the victims are found with three-digit numbers on their flesh. But as she tracks the killer throughout the world, their paths cross in unexpected ways.

Peyton and his producing partner Jeff Fierson will produce through Peyton’s ASAP Entertainment banner.

Peyton scored a big hit with 2015's San Andreas, which starred Dwayne Johnson and earned $473 million worldwide. The helmer and Johnson reteamed for Rampage, which is set to open April 13.
