Regina King, Zazie Beetz, Lakeith Stanfield and Delroy Lindo Cast in Western 'The Harder They Fall'

Joker actress Zazie Beetz, Da 5 Blood’s Delroy Lindo, Sorry to Bother You star Lakeith Stanfield, and Watchmen topliner Regina King have been lassoed for The Harder They Fall, a Western revenge thriller from Netflix.

Danielle Deadwyler (Atlanta), Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class), RJ Cyler (Scream: The TV Series) are also on the Wanted poster, joining headliners Jonathan Majors and Idris Elba as the production seeks to get back on the saddle after being derailed by the coronavirus shutdown.

Jeymes Samuel, who is also known as singer-songwriter The Bullitts, will make his directorial debut with the all-Black Western. The film is being produced by Jay-Z, James Lassiter, and Lawrence Bender. Samuel is also producing and the will write and produce original music for the film with Jay-Z.

The script, by Samuel and Boaz Yakin, follows outlaw Nat Love (Majors), who, upon discovering that the man (Elba) who killed his parents two decades previously is being released from prison, reunites with his gang to track his enemy down and seek his revenge.

The actors are now in cowboy camp, learning the skills of gunslinging and horseback riding, but will head to New Mexico for the shoot.

The project was days away from starting in March when pandemic concerns forced a postponement. Fall ended up losing several actors including Cynthia Erivo because of the push.

Beetz, who has fantasy drama Nine Days with Winston Duke in the can, is repped by CAA, Management 360, and Sloane Offer. Lindo was one of the stars of Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, which Netflix released earlier this year and earned early Oscar buzz. He is repped by APA and Cavalty Media. Stanfield, who appeared in Knives Out and Uncut Gems, is repped by CAA, Stark Management, and Ginsburg Daniels. Deadwyler, who also appeared in Watchmen and P Valley, is repped by Paradigm and Play Mgmt.

King won an Oscar for her work in 2019’s If Beale Street Could Talk and is Emmy-nominated for outstanding lead actress in a limited series or movie for HBO’s Watchmen. She is repped by ICM Partners, John Carrabino Management, and Del Shaw.
