Why Did The Rock Publicly Criticize His 'Fast 8' Co-Stars?
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had some apparent fighting words for some of his fellow male leads in the upcoming Fast 8, the latest installment to the blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise.
In a social media post Monday afternoon, Johnson appeared to criticize some of the guys he is co-starring with, going as far as to call them "candy asses."
"My female co-stars are always amazing and I love 'em. My male co-stars however are a different story," Johnson wrote to his more than 56 million Facebook followers. "Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones that don't are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you're right."
A request by Heat Vision for additional comment was not returned. The Facebook post was confusing to some, as it seems out of character for Johnson, who is both social-media savvy and very protective of a tough, but always professional, image.
The Fast 8 co-stars who could've apparently drawn Johnson's ire are Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Tyrese, Ludacris and Scott Eastwood.
There's also this possibility: Perhaps the post was actually done in character, as Luke Hobbs. A clue may be the short video that accompanies the post, a stunt from the film in which Hobbs throws a guard against the prison wall. Of course, that could also represent Johnson's actual frustrations on set, if they are real.
TMZ claimed on Tuesday that "sources" told them tension on the set was high due to all the egos, which was now ratcheted up thanks to Johnson's Facebook post. Still, the gossip website did not claim to know which actor(s) got The Rock all riled up.
Fast 8 is scheduled for release April 14, 2017.
