Ryan Reynolds Teases 'Deadpool' Costume

"It's early," he notes.

Fox’s Deadpool won’t be in theaters until 2016, but Ryan Reynolds couldn’t wait that long to share a sneak peek of the self-styled merc with fans on Twitter.

The actor, who first played the X-Men-related character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, posted an image of himself behind a prototype of his costume, joking that the sepia tone “disguises the fact the mask is ballerina pink” instead of the traditional comic book look of red and black. Otherwise, it looks exactly like the costume designed by Rob Liefeld for the character’s debut in 1991’s New Mutants No. 98.

The tweet also includes a mention of it being “365 sleeps early,” a reference to the fact that the movie is scheduled to hit theaters in exactly one year’s time.

Deadpool has been in development for a number of years before Fox officially announced its release date last year. Last month, Reynolds joked about the long gestation time of the project, telling an interviewer that “on this one, the prep’s been 11 years.”
