Antaine Furlong's debut feature, starring Charlotte Best, is due in U.S. theaters on July 16.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired the worldwide releasing rights, excluding Australia and New Zealand, to Antaine Furlong’s sci-fi thriller Rising Wolf.

The film — starring Charlotte Best, Jonny Pasvolsky, Alex Menglet and Susan Prior — is set to hit U.S. theaters on July 16. Rising Wolf also stars Lily Stewart, Justin Cotta, Tahlia Sturzaker and Karelina Clarke.

"We at Goldwyn are honored to be working with emerging talent from around the world. Antaine Furlong has created an exciting new thriller that audiences will thoroughly enjoy,” Miles Fineburg of Samuel Goldwyn Films said in a statement.

Rising Wolf, set in Shanghai and shot in Sydney, Australia, portrays a young environmentalist who wakes to find herself trapped and kidnapped in the elevator of a super high-rise building and at the mercy of her tormentors.

“As we prepare for a very wide theatrical release across Australian and New Zealand cinemas on April 8, to be partnering with someone like Samuel Goldwyn in such key markets as the U.S., U.K., Europe and Asia is a huge vote of confidence in the movie. It also represents a big boost for Australian-made movies finding a larger audience overseas, which is great outcome for the whole industry," Furlong, who wrote, directed and produced Rising Wolf, said in a statement.

The film will be released under the local title of Ascendant in Australia and New Zealand. Furlong co-wrote Rising Wolf with Kieron Holland.

The producer credits are also held by Kristy Vernon, James Vernon and Drew Bailey, while Liz Furlong and Bec Kemp executive produce. The distribution deal was negotiated by Fineburg, on behalf of Samuel Goldwyn Films, and Furlong, acting for the filmmakers.
