Comic-Con International has announced the first guests for this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s a collection that includes a critically-acclaimed fantasy novelist, a fan-favorite current comic book writer, a beloved illustrator and one of the men responsible for the British science fiction character Judge Dredd.

Announced Monday, the first five special guests of the show are Kelly Sue DeConnick, writer of Marvel’s Captain Marvel series and co-creator of Image Comics’ Bitch Planet; Carlos Ezquerra, Spanish comic artist and co-creator of Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog Carlos Ezquerra; Lev Grossman, author of The Magicians series of novels; fantasy painter and illustrator William Stout; and Reginald Hudlin, producer of Django Unchained, writer of Marvel’s Black Panther and director of House Party and Boomerang.

In a statement accompanying the announcements, CCI spokesman David Glanzer said that the pop culture convention organizer is “grateful to feature such talented individuals from comics and popular art.” CCI added that the guest list for July’s show is “shaping up to be another spectacular year in terms of talent joining the four-day extravaganza.”

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con runs from Thursday, July 7 through Sunday, July 12 at the San Diego Convention Center.
