Wayward Pines actor Michael Garza and Austin Abrams have joined Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, a movie that Andre Ovredal is already on board to direct.

Entertainment One and CBS Films are co-financing the pic, which will also star Gabriel Rush, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn and starts shooting in Toronto this week. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark follows a group of teens who must solve the mystery surrounding a wave of spectacularly horrific deaths in their small town.

The five latest castmembers join the previously announced Zoe Colletti in the ensemble cast. Daniel Hageman and Kevin Hageman, whose writing credits include The Lego Movie and Hotel Transylvania, adapted the script along with del Toro, who earned the best picture Oscar for his latest film, The Shape of Water.

The project is based on Alvin Schwartz’s internationally best-selling book series. Del Toro is producing Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark along with Sean Daniel, Elizabeth Grave, Jason Brown and J. Miles Dale.

eOne will distribute the feature in Canada, U.K., Australia/New Zealand, Germany, Benelux, Spain, Austria and Switzerland, with Sierra/Affinity overseeing sales in all remaining international territories outside of the U.S.

CBS Films will distribute the film domestically via its partnership with Lionsgate.

Garza is repped by KMR Talent, while Abrams is repped by WME Entertainment and Industry Entertainment. Rush is repped by Paradigm, Frontier Booking International and Strong Management.

Zajur is repped by CESD and is managed by Bercy Talent Management. Natalie Ganzhorn is repped by Oscars, Abrams, Zimel and Associates.
