Seth Meyers Compares Donald Trump to Batman Villain Bane
Seth Meyers says he may have given Donald Trump a supervillain "origin story."
Meyers famously eviscerated Trump during the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner, and on Tuesday addressed speculation that his jokes about Trump inspired the Republican presidential nominee to run for the highest office in the land.

"I thought, 'Oh, that was a good job of zinging that guy.' And then it seems like I gave Bane his origin story," Meyers said during a Documentary Now! panel moderated by The Hollywood Reporter's president/chief creative officer Janice Min at the 92nd Street Y.
Bill Hader, who co-created IFC's Documentary Now! with Meyers and Fred Armisen, took things a step further, bringing up another Batman villain's origin story: "It's like The Joker. You pushed him into the vat and he came out."
Meyers' 2011 comments came back when Trump was publicly flirting with a presidential bid, but ultimately did run that election cycle. (Among Meyers' zingers: "Donald Trump said that he was running for president as a Republican. That's funny, because I thought he was running as a joke.")
"To his credit, if he wins, it's the greatest f--- you to anybody," Meyers said Tuesday.
The Documentary! Now panel kicked off THR’s TV Talks series in recognition of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting’s milestone 50th anniversary. Watch Meyers' comments above, and check out the full panel below.
