Silver Sable and Black Cat will no longer be sharing the screen in Sony's Silver & Black.

The Spider-Man spinoff had been set to feature the two characters, but the studio is now planning on developing solo movies for both of them, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

At one time, the film was set to debut in February 2019, but Sony pulled Silver & Black from the schedule in June. It was to have been directed by filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood. She will remain a producer on the Silver Sable and Black Cat movies but is unlikely to direct. She is next tackling the comic book adaptation The Old Guard for Skydance. Though Sony has shelved Silver & Black, it's possible it could be revived at some point down the road.

The move comes as the studio is two months away from the October release date of Venom, the first film in its shared universe of Spider-Man characters. Sony also has plans for a Morbius the Living Vampire movie from director Daniel Espinosa and starring Jared Leto, as well as a Kraven the Hunter movie with screenwriter Richard Wenk attached. The studio also is developing Silk, about Korean-American superhero Cindy Moon, and a Nightwatch film. Though it is not part of Sony's Spider-Man universe, the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is set to bow in December, while Spider-Man: Far From Home (co-produced with Marvel Studios) will open next year.

Variety first reported the news of Silver & Black being divided into two films.
