First 'Sonic the Hedgehog' Movie Poster Unveiled
Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first look at the titular speedy Erinaceinae in the upcoming film adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog.
The "motion poster," as it's called, features a blurry blue line speeding past the camera, a familiar sight for fans of the Sonic video game franchise, and the iconic twinkle of gold rings being collected before Sonic himself is finally revealed (albeit mostly in shadow).
Heat Vision breakdown
Posed in a runner's stance, this new version of the gaming icon is noticeably more muscular than his video game counterpart, but the signature red sneakers and slicked back spiky hairdo are still there. The short teaser also touts the line "From the producer of The Fast and the Furious," both a factual reference to producer Neal Moritz and a possible tongue-in-cheek play on the character's penchant for going really, really fast.
Sonic the Hedgehog, a live-action-CGI-hybrid, stars Ben Schwartz in the title role alongside Jim Carrey as the villainous Dr. Robotnik and James Marsden as a human character named Tom Wachowski. Sonic will be directed by first-time feature filmmaker Jeff Fowler.
The film hits theaters on Nov. 8, 2019.
