'Star Wars' vs. 'Star Trek': The Differences Between the Fans Revealed

No debate in sci-fi fandom is as pervasive: Star Wars or Star Trek? And now, data provided by Foursquare is shedding light on some of the other interests the fans of each franchise.
The location intelligence company looked at users who checked in to screenings of last year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens and this summer's Star Trek Beyond — and then looked at what other places those users visited.
Heat Vision breakdown
A few of the findings: Star Wars fans are 26 percent more likely to visit a dive bar than the average Foursquare City Guide and Foursquare Swarm user. Star Trek fans are 68 percent more likely to visit a gay bar.
Star Wars fans are also more likely to visit baseball stadiums (74 percent), hockey rinks (24 percent) and cycle studios (25 percent).
Star Trek fans are more likely to visit smoothie shops (25 percent), The Lego Store (118 percent) and Panda Express (37 percent). Trek fans may also take the "boldly go where no one has gone before" mandate of the series to heart. They are 75 percent more likely to visit an airport lounge.
Foursquare notes that just because one category appears on the Star Wars side, it doesn't mean Star Trek users don't also like those places (and vice versa). Foursquare says it just means one segment had a greater affinity for those places by a margin of at least 10. Check out more of the findings below:
