Tattoos can tell a lot about a person. Especially if that person is a supervillain and the tattoo is based on their supervillain identity, as in the new Suicide Squad social media promotion.

The cast of the movie have taken to Twitter and Instagram to share new promotional images for David Ayer's movie based on the black ops DC Entertainment comic book series, while also teasing a unique promotion planned for the upcoming SXSW festival. Would you let Harley Quinn near you with a needle … ?

Tattoos have played an important part in the history of the Suicide Squad movie, with both Margot Robbie and Will Smith having given the cast and crew of the movie ink (the intentionally-misspelled "SKWAD") to mark the end of the filming last year.

While it's unlikely that Robbie herself is going to be wielding the needle herself at SXSW — or that the parlor will offer more than temporary tattoos based on the images shared in the new images, for that matter — the buzz generated by the tweets and Instagram posts did pave the way for Ayer to share the latest, candy-colored logo for the movie on Twitter:

Suicide Squad will be unleashed in theaters on Aug. 5. SXSW 2016 begins on Feb. 11.
