The first wave of releases, available immediately to be binged in complete series, includes work by 'Preacher' co-creator Garth Ennis and screenwriter Tze Chun.

A new comic book publisher plans to shake up the system by changing the way comic books are released, and offering the end customers a lot more choice in how they read their stories — oh, and offering brand-new series by some of the most buzzed-about names in the industry, as well.

TKO Studios, based in Los Angeles, has been quietly rolling out teases for its launch titles via Twitter all weekend, but on Monday afternoon, the publisher unveiled its unique selling point — a different attitude towards distribution and formatting. Each series will be offered in three different formats simultaneously, with each title available directly from the publisher. In addition to releasing completed series in collected format and digital single issues, TKO also will release the entire run of each six-issue series in single-issue print edition, inside a collector's box set, in what it is calling a “binge-release” format. Additionally, the first issue of each series will be available to read directly on TKO’s website ahead of purchase.

Initial releases from the publisher include Sara, a series about a Russian sniper during World War II by Garth Ennis and Steve Epting; The 7 Deadly Sins, a Western by Tze Chun and Artyom Trakhanov; The Fearsome Doctor Fang, a period crime series by Chun, Mike Weiss and Dan McDaid; and Goodnight Paradise, a murder mystery set among the California homeless community by Joshua Dysart and Alberto Ponticelli.

Creators on future series include Roxane Gay, Ming Doyle and Jeff Lemire, with the second wave of releases due next summer, according to TKO.

All four of the initial series are available immediately. More information can be found at the company’s website.
