Tom Hanks Fights to Prevent Hell on Earth in 'Inferno' Trailer

Welcome to hell, Tom Hanks.

The new trailer for Inferno — the latest movie in the series started by 2006's The Da Vinci Code — reveals that Professor Robert Langdon (Hanks) is far more involved with the latest theological threat to humanity than even he knows, thanks to a faulty memory right when he needs it the most.

Hanks leads a cast that includes Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Felicity Jones and Omar Sy in the adaptation of the Dan Brown novel that sees someone try to turn Dante Alighieri's 14th-century poem about the underworld into reality by creating a virus intended to wipe out 50 percent of all life on the planet. As usual, the only person who can solve the mysteries behind the danger is Langdon — if only he could trust his own mind.

Ron Howard returns as director for the third installment in the franchise, with David Koepp also back to handle the screenplay. Inferno will be released Oct. 28.
