Two weeks after the imprint was announced, independent publisher Vault Comics has unveiled the first three titles to be released from its Young Adult and middle-grade line, Myriad, featuring a creative lineup mixing Eisner Award-winners and newcomers to the field.

The launch titles for the line, to be headed by Vault Comics editor-in-chief Adrian Wassel and vp branding and design Tim Daniel, will be Wrassle Castle, written by Paul Tobin and Colleen Coover; Bonding by Matthew Erman and Emily Pearson; and Unfinished Corner, written by Dani Colman.

Wrassle Castle sees the creators of the multiple-Eisner Award winner Bandette write a story centering around Lydia, a wannabe wrassler who has to call upon her secret training when her brother — a beloved wrasslin instructor — is arrested and only Lydia winning the Grand Wrasslin Tournament can clear his name. The artist for the middle-grade title will be announced soon.

Described as a “funny, quirky, and honest look at love,” Bonding is a YA romance about a man, a woman and the parasites they host, set in a world where humanity has become infested with slug-like creatures that pair with human hosts.

Another YA title, Unfinished Corner, written by Colman with an art team to be announced, is based around the concept in Jewish mythology that, when God created the universe, He left a corner unfinished; in Colman’s project, a 12-year-old and her two friends are kidnapped by an angel who gives them a simple mission that will prove difficult to complete: Finish the corner.

“Young readers want to make their own heroes — so our heroes must be equally reflective of all of us, representing who we are broadly and as individuals,” Daniel said in a statement accompanying the announcement of the new titles. “A seismic shift in readers’ attitudes and expectations requires a myriad of choices — both in format and content. The name of our new line expressly conveys our goal, and what we are delivering to readers."

The three titles will be released in 2019 and 2020, according to the publisher.
